Consumers Union letter to US Senate in opposition of S.764

I do not want your GMOLike 90% of Americans, I care about what is in my food.

Please review the Consumers Union letter to the U.S. Senate opposing bill S.764. Here: http://consumersunion.org/research/consumers-union-letter-to-us-senate-in-opposition-of-s-764-to-preempt-state-gmo-labeling-laws/

Bill S.764 was written by Sen. Pat Roberts, Republican and  Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Democrat. Isn’t it lovely to see the Democrats and Republicans working together against the wishes of the majority of the American people? Please get the notion that Democrats are the “good guys” out of your head. Corporate, neo-liberal Democrats are only better on social issues. Expect that to go out the window soon. Before they were contaminated by oligarch’s money, the Republican party were good guys, too. The fact that these two politicians would write such a bill, which directly opposes what most U.S. Citizens want and is clearly NOT in the consumer’s best interest tells us that Roberts and Stabenow are corrupt.

Both Sen. Pat Roberts and Sen. Debbie Stabenow get a lot of money from AGRIBUSINESS. You can check for yourself on OpenSecrets.

Sen. Pat Roberts (R – KS) is on the following committees: Agriculture, Nutrition, & Forestry (Chairman), Finance, Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, Rules and Administration. Nice, eh? A few of the top industries contributing to his campaign committee: At number 4 is the Agricultural Services/Products ($318,914), number 12 is Crop Production & Basic Processing ($195,141), and number 15 is Food Processing & Sales ($162,644). Agribusiness is the top sector contributing $138,639 of his PAC money for 2015-2016. His owners include: 1-Burns & McDonnell, 2-Votesane PAC (who seem to get all their money from realtors), 3-Koch Industries (we know who they are), 4-Blackstone Group (one of Hillary Clinton’s largest donors), 5-Novogradac & Co, and 6-Select Medical Holdings.

Pat is up for re-election in 2020. Kansas, please vote him out. It is obvious that corporations are his priority, not us.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D – MI) is on the following committees: Agriculture, Nutrition, & Forestry (Ranking Member), Budget, Energy & Natural Resources, and Finance. A few of the top industries contributing to her campaign committee: At number 5 is Crop Production & Basic Processing ($355,276), number 8 is the Agricultural Services/Products ($278,918), and number 18 is Food Processing & Sales ($146,450). And look here, surprise Agribusiness is the top sector contributing $136,068 of her PAC money for 2015-2016. Dow Chemical is her 6th largest contributor. 1 – EMILY’s List, 2-DTE Energy, 3-Blue Cross/Blue Shield, 4-ICE Group, and 5-Rock Holdings (apparently Democratic Debbies like the loan industry).

Debbie is up for re-election in 2018. Michigan, please vote her out. It is obvious that corporations are her priority, not us.
